Things to do in the picturesque town of Sitges, Barcelona

If anyone wants to go on holiday to a picturesque seaside town, then Sitges is the place for you. Situated 30 minutes south west of Barcelona airport, Sitges offers something for everyone.

Whether this be for families with young or older children, a clubbing holiday or a romantic getaway, this pretty little town will blow you away by its beaches, history and also the people who live there. Sitges is also well known for it's LGBT friendly environment and embraces Gay Prides every year.

I have been to Sitges two years in a row now and loved each time more and more. For both of my visits, my friends and I stayed in Melia Sitges. This stunning 4 star hotel is a 15 minute coastal walk from the main hustle and bustle of the town centre and amazing beaches. With lovely views, posh rooms and extremely friendly staff, this hotel was worth every penny. Also, if you sign up to the rewards scheme, you get a discount if you decide to return again.

If you don't fancy spending your days by the beach or the pool, there are so many other activities to do both in and around Sitges. One of the most popular activities that I saw this year was Segway Tours, one of the best ways to see all the sights. There are so many different tours to choose from with Segway Sitges, ranging in price depending on what you do and how many people take part. They also have some great reviews so it's definitely worth looking into!

If you are into art and history, visiting the Museus De Sitges is a wise choice. This beautiful museum is full of wonderful paintings, furniture, ceramics, glass and more. Not only this, but the building itself is striking. If you have a quite afternoon and fancy getting out of the sun for a while, why not have a little visit for the mere cost of €10 per adult and €7 for a child/teen.

Alternatively, if you fancy venturing out of Sitges for the day, I would definitely advise the Aqualeon water park. I went last year and it was incredible. There are so many slides and pools and it's a great way to improve the tan. Tickets for visitors 11 years of age + cost €24,00 each but buying tickets in groups or as a family costs considerably less. I would definitely go again if I had the chance as my friends and I thought it was one of the best days of our holiday in 2014.

When it comes to the evening and dining out, you are spoilt for choice from such a vast number of restaurants including traditional Spanish food, Italian, Mexican, American and more. We decided to choose a different cuisine every night and admittedly, some were better than others. The food tends to get better when you venture closer to the centre but the wait for your food remains the same. Some members of your group may finish their food before you get your own however, the service was always great. The seafood here is on point, so make sure to check that out!

Finally the night life here is incredible. My friends and I went out every night and each one bought something completely different to the table. We did only drink at gay bars but they are open to everyone, no matter what sexuality you are. I would definitely recommend Queenz Bar or Parrots Bar for a few bevvies, but if you fancy a bit of entertainment then visit the Parrots restaurant for a bit of cabaret from one of my favourite queens, Lady Diamond.

I said to myself I wouldn't go for a third year but thinking back on all of this, maybe I will. More memories need to be made :)
