It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Xmas - From Parties to Jumpers

So it's starting to feel more and more like Christmas and the festivities are really taking their toll. Recently my diet has consisted of copious bottles of wine and many a roast dinner but who am I to complain?! They are two of my favourite things.

Last week I had two Christmas  parties (as well as two birthdays and a dinner). The first was my work Christmas party held at Tape. You know, that club where celebrities like my idol Justin Bieber tend to go in central London? Yeah, it was great. Probably the best Xmas party I have ever been too! There were so many glasses of  Bellinis and bottles of wines scattered around the club which mixed with some of my best mates, created lots of fun memories. There wasn't the standard photo booth this year, but instead a video booth. What I didn't know until after my video was taken, was that it was also being played on the big screen in the main room. Luckily, we weren't the most embarrassing employees...

My second party was with my Aussie family Christmas. Everyone brought some food and wine over to our house along with their best Christmas jumpers and secret Santa presents. As it was a Sunday, I didn't plan on getting that drunk but the booze and laughter flowed and I felt like I was topping up from the night before! Needless to say I was drunk by 5pm.

I'm always keen to get a new Christmas jumper each year, and luckily for me, this year BoohooMan contacted me and asked if I'd like to receive one! I found this really cute black, red and white traditional style Christmas jumper and instantly fell in love. It's quite thick too, perfect for those cold late nights at Winter Wonderland.

Men's Christmas Gift Guide - Gift Ideas for your Boyfriend

Every year brings the same struggle. It's a week until Christmas and you're still frantically trying to find that perfect present for your boyfriend. Constantly dropping hints isn't working but you get way too excited when they actually mention something they like. I know Christmas can sneak up real good so to help you out this year, I wanted to give a few gift ideas that would be perfect for your other half.

Men's Christmas Gift Guide - Gift Ideas For Your Boyfriend - Bearded Couture

This is one of the best things that I have recieved this year. The gift set contains Cornerstone's entire range of quality shaving products, including a personalised, engraved aluminium razor handle. Everything a man needs for a smooth, comfortable shave in a single box. They even chuck in a £10 gift card so your boyfriend can sign up for one of their 'shave plans' they need to order more. The face scrub and shaving balms also smell great, perfect for someone who isn't keen on overpwering 'perfumey' smell.

I have been using this product for a while now and I can confirm that it has been working wonders on my skin. This magical potion contains 100% Pure Cacay Oil, minimising pores, blemishes and wrinkles, as well as including anti aging properties. It says on the packaging to use it in the morning and before bed, but I think only using a few drops once a day is enough. This gift is perfect for the gentlemen (or lady) who enjoys looking after themselves. Ohh also, it is 100% vegan!

Discover your Designer Scent with Scentbird Perfume Subscription

Scents are one of my favourite things in the world. Whether that be food, room fragrances or the smell of freshly cut grass, personally, there isn’t much else better in the world. Scents and fragrances are such powerful things. They can trigger memories that you had forgotten about for years in just one gentle waft, bringing back a number of feeling and emotions, which may not always be something that you wish to remember.

At work I am pretty well known for my aftershaves and I have built up a pretty good collection over the years. I believe that you should mix and match your scents, depending on the occasion. Something a bit lighter for the day, and powerful at night. There isn’t anything wrong for having a signature smell, I did that for years but if you are like me, you spray yourself 12 times to actually smell the aftershave on you and soon run out. Swapping and changing your scents allows you to enjoy them more.

My aftershaves collection includes:

- Diesel Plus Pus Masculine – My very first aftershave
- Burberry Original for Men – My favourite aftershave as a teen
- Montblanc Legend – The most beautiful smell ever
- Versace Eros – A gift from my friend
- Paco Rabanne Black XS – My annual Christmas present from my Gran

I am always looking to try out new scents and last year on holiday, my friend sprayed me with Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf before we went out and I instantly fell in love. It has a highly addictive explosion of spices, built on a balmy, woody vetiver trail. Absolutely delicious. It has been on my purchase list for quite some time but keep forgetting to buy it. This was until I was contacted by Scentbird.

Men’s Summer Fashion Trends - Style Tips for 2016

It wasn't so long ago that we were being treated to the joys of snow in April, and the sound of squelching under our feet. However, it seems as though spring has finally arrived and summer is only just around the corner.

While it is important to retain a sense of individuality and our own style, it doesn't hurt to keep up to date with the latest trends in fashion and allow them to influence and shape our own sense of style. It has recently been revealed by RetailDIVE that men are now spending more money on clothes and accessories than women, so now is a great time to start paying more attention to, and refining your sense of style. So, what summer fashion trends do us guys need to be aware of in 2016?

Mens Summer Fashion Trends - Style Tips 2016 Bearded Couture

1) The Baggier The Better
They were once the forte of skateboarders, but baggy trousers have been something of an outside trend for the last few years. However, 2016 has seen baggy trousers become increasingly popular, with designers embracing this style and turning their back on the ‘skinny’ look. This will be a music to the ears of men who have long been uncomfortable squeezing themselves into trousers that are a couple of sizes too small. If you are on the market for a new suit or pair of jeans this summer, then be sure to invest in a pair of trousers with a relaxed or slouchy cut. Personally, I will be staying with my trusty skinny jeans.

The Stable - Whitechapel, East London - Pizza, Pies & Cider

Recently, the streets of Whitechapel, East London have been blessed with the launch of a new restaurant called Stable Pizza. Stable Pizza are all about the pizza, pies and cider. Three of my absolute favourite things. So, when I was invited along to attend the opening night a few weeks ago, I definitely wasn't going to turn this opportunity down.

The Stable, Whitechapel - Porky Pancetta

I think it is great when an established business moves to the big smoke after having success outside of London. It makes me believe in their offering, and that they are in it for more than just the money. The concept came around 9 years ago, after owners Richard and Nikki Cooper bought a dilapidated hotel and outbuilding/former stable in Bridport, Dorset. After a few years of renovation and tweaking the designs and menus, Stable Pizza has now grown throughout the South of England, using the same approach to each 'stable'. Their vision is to create a unique environment where customers can enjoy fine, locally sourced produce, accompanied by an abundance of real cider and trust me, they have really fulfilled their vision, and more.

Easy, Gluten Free & Extremely Healthy Banana Pancakes Recipe

Have you ever wondered how to make easy, gluten free and extremely healthy banana pancakes made out of two ingredients which you are more than likely to have in your cupboard at home?

Well, you have stumbled across the holy grail of all pancake recipes. Last weekend, when my partner and I were extremely jet lagged, my house mate decided to cook us breakfast. I was delighted when I sat down at the dinner table to these. Okay, so the toppings weren't as healthy as the ingredients but everyone makes bad life choices every now and then. Please forgive me.

So, "how do I make those delicious pancakes?" I hear you cry. Well, look no further.

Gluten Free Healthy Banana Pancakes Recipe

Ingredients to serve one:

1½ Large ripe/overripe bananas, 2 Medium sized eggs
Whipped cream, Blueberries, Maple syrup

Instructions:

1) Crack the two eggs into a large mixing bowl and whisk up to combine the yolk and egg white
2) Mash up the banana in another bowl, leaving a few chunks to give the pancakes a bit of texture
3) Pour the egg mixture in with the banana to begin to stir until combined
4) Once the mixture is of a good consistency, pour some of the mixture into mini pancake shapes in a pre-heated frying pan
5) Cook pancakes over a medium/low heat for around 1 minute on each side until golden brown
6) Place onto plate (or a mini wooden chopping board for effect), adding on your preferred topping for example, whipped cream, blueberries and maple syrup
7) Consume whilst warm and enjoy

Trust me, you'll thank me when you are munching on these this weekend.

THANKS BEARDED COUTURE

When Scaramouche + Fandango heard that I was going to Australia, they surprised me at work by sending me a mini travel pack which contained all of my skincare essentials. I loved working with Scaramouche + Fandango before when I reviewed their face scrub and hydrator, so I was extremely excited to try out some more of their products!

This travel friendly pack is ideal for a cheeky weekend city break or for a long sunny holiday with each product coming in 50ml fun size bottles and a handy little pouch. Perfect for hand luggage!

This body wash contains Brazilian papaya, which is rich in sugars, minerals, Vitamin C and B-group vitamin, helping you to replace any minerals in your skin that you may have lost during the day and also reduce signs of fatigue.

Andorra Skiing Holiday - The Ski Slope Is My Catwalk

Another day in the life of Bearded Couture, brings another adventure. This time, a 4 day long ski holiday in Andorra with 31 work colleagues and some of my nearest and dearest. WOO! But what could make this holiday even better I hear you ask? Well, it was all organised through work and it will probably be the cheapest skiing trip I will ever go on.

Back in August 2015, a number of friends and I all signed up to our work ski trip. I had never been skiing before (apart from an awful dry slope attempt when I was 10 years old) but had always wanted to try this sport. After 7 longg months of waiting, the time had come. A few mates mentioned that they were going 'vintage' with their skiwear, but in true Mike style, I went one step further and borrowed my friends bright pink vintage ski suit.

Teaming this up with a leopard print bag and bright blue scarf, I was definitely kitted out and couldn't be missed on the slopes. Needless to say, I got lots of comments, both negative and positive, but mainly the latter. I thought I looked great so I didn't care haha.

Anyway going back to the story, we flew out from Gatwick airport after a VERY traumatic experience at Easyjet's check in. Basically, we were told that all of our 32 seats were overbooked and we couldn't get on the flight. After having a panic attack that lasted nearly an hour (thank god we got there early) it was discovered that there was an error in the system and we were allowed through. We flew into Barcelona around 20:30 before quickly purchasing some sangria for our 4 hour coach journey to Andorra. Longgg. Most people fell asleep apart from my best mate Chrissie and I who listened to tunes and had a mini rave. We finally got to our apartments around 00:00 and decided to call it a night to ensure we were fresh in the morning for our first day skiing.

Our Icelandic Adventure in Reykjavik – Part 2

Welcome back. If you enjoyed reading ‘Our Icelandic Adventure in Reykjavik – Part 1', you are going to LOVE part 2. Where did I get up to? Oh yeah, icky Samantha who couldn’t hold down the bagel and coffee. Great start to the morning.

After a few more stops and an unnecessary purchase of some very expensive woollen socks, we started making good headway for day twos activities. First on the list was another waterfall in Thingvellir National Park, another beautiful, naturally formed waterfall in the Icelandic scenery. I am unsure whether I was still drunk or just Bambi on ice, but I was sliding around everywhere here. My very inappropriate footwear of trainers probably didn't help the situation. In my defence, I was rushed out the door when I got home from work and forgot to change my shoes. For anyone thinking of going soon, be sure to take hiking boots.

The second stop of day two’s self-directed tour was the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier. I was literally like a kid in a candy shop. This may sound sad to some, but I have wanted to see a glacier my whole life. It has been on the top of my bucket list for such a long. I think they are one of the most amazing formations around the world. When we parked up, it was around a 15 minute walk to the glacier, with a sign at the end saying ‘please don’t walk on the glacier without appropriate footwear or guidance’. Seriously, no one was going to stop me do this, not even my grip-less trainers.

Our Icelandic Adventure in Reykjavik – Part 1

As I am sure you all know by now, I have become a bit of a traveler in my older years. When I was younger, I was never really into travelling. I would much prefer to stay in the UK and ride my house through the English countryside which was amazing in itself. However, since I met my partner, this has all changed. Last year I was lucky enough to visit three different countries, with this year looking to be equally as good.

For my partners birthday in early February, a group of us, also known as S Club 7, traveled to the beautiful city of Reykjavik, Iceland. Luke has always wanted to go to Iceland since he was a child but as he grew up in Australia, this was always going to be hard due to the distance.

We all finished work early on the Friday and quickly made our way to Gatwick airport to catch our 19:30 flight with WOW air. Luckily we made it in time for a cheeky pint to calm the pre-flight nerves. I am not the best flyer. We landed around 22:30 after around a 3 hour flight, made our way through customs and then to the carpark to look for our beautiful, upgraded (happy birthday Luke) mumma van. F**k it was cold. We decided to hire a car from Europcar whilst we were in Iceland to make the most of what this picturesque place has to offer, and I think it was the best idea we had made. It makes the whole trip a lot cheaper as you aren’t paying for multiple tours, and you get the freedom to do go wherever and do whatever you want.

After piling in the van and Mr Withers being the token driver, it took us around an hour to get to our Airbnb after slowly making our way over the scarily icy road. I found out I am also a very nervous passenger. All I could think of was “don't make unnecessary journeys, don't take risks on treacherous roads”. Scary.

So, when we arrived at our apartment (which you can see here) in one piece, we were more than happily surprised with how it looked. Simple, yet stylish with enough beds for the 7 of us. We did try to find an off-license to get some mixer for our duty free voddy, but everywhere was closed so we went to bed. Party. Mind you, it was around 1.30am by the time we stopped faffing around and had to be up at 7 to go to the Blue Lagoon.

Reykjavik, Iceland Photo Diary

I know I have probably said this about every city that I have visited, but Reykjavik in Iceland has been most beautiful place on my list so far. I wanted to share a photo diary of my travels here, all taken by my 5 friends, partner and I.

Bowler & Beach - New Men's Beachwear Brand

Bowler & Beach are the new, luxury beachwear brand on the block and I have fallen in love. Never, have I never wanted to have a pair of swim shorts more in my life.

London based brothers, Matt and BJ Hepworth, are the creators behind the brand. They wanted to create beachwear which evokes great memories, inspired by the Portuguese sun and fun they had with family and friends in their childhood. This is very clearly reflected in their designs, which showcases a carefree spirit to live for the moment.

Bowler & Beach's first range, The Animals, launches in April this year. The range includes four distinctive prints named 'The Seahorse', 'The Swallows', 'The Stag' and 'The Lobster', which can be seen below. They will be available to pre-order through their kickstarter campaign starting on the 29th February, costing £69.00 each.

BJ, one of the brothers had this to say about the swim shorts; “We both passionately believe in creating distinctive swim shorts that make an impact wherever they are worn. They must be comfortable, well fitting and able to withstand the rigours of having fun in the sun, time and time again. Our shorts are designed in London and made in Portugal where there is a rich heritage of the most skilled craftsmen and women making luxury swim shorts using the best quality fabric and trims.”

They have also chosen a very sexy model to showcase the new range.... See below ;)

Zeos For Men QU3 Urban Skincare Range - Product Review *

I am back, again, this time with a BANG and a determination to keep this blog up to date. Quite a lot has happened over the past few months. Mainly work, which seems to have taken over my life and providing me with little time for myself and bottles of wine so I really need to give myself some downtime and a place where I can express myself.

So, for my come back blog post (sound like a z-list celeb), I would like to introduce you to Zeos For Men, a new brand focused on revolutionising male grooming products to make then as hassle-free as possible.

Zeos For Men QU3 Urban Skincare Range - Bearded Couture

A while ago (and am so sorry about the delay) I was sent the most amazing bundle of products which have been a firm favourite in the shower, not only for me, but also for my housemates. The products included a face scrub, face wash, face & body moisturiser and also a hair and body shower gel. What else would you need for the best lathered up shower experience ever? Maybe a glass of champagne or a can of larger, according to your preference.

Now, being the modern, urban gentlemen that I am and living in London, all of the pollutants, work stress (noted above) and junk food that I eat (openly admitted) takes it's toll on my skin. I really needed to find that product that helps me feel rejuvenated, leave me smelling great and also confident to face the day ahead. And these products have done just that.

So, what is the secret ingredient I hear you all asking? The answers include Resistem TM, Vitamin E, Vitamin B5 and Shea Butter. Resistem TM is a natural ingredient discovered within the stem of the Globularia Cordifolia plant which  helps to stimulate natural anti-aging defenses in your skin. The Vitamin E, Vitamin B5 and Shea Butter also help this process along, by hydrating and nourishing your skin which improves it's tone.
