The Stable - Whitechapel, East London - Pizza, Pies & Cider

Recently, the streets of Whitechapel, East London have been blessed with the launch of a new restaurant called Stable Pizza. Stable Pizza are all about the pizza, pies and cider. Three of my absolute favourite things. So, when I was invited along to attend the opening night a few weeks ago, I definitely wasn't going to turn this opportunity down.

I think it is great when an established business moves to the big smoke after having success outside of London. It makes me believe in their offering, and that they are in it for more than just the money. The concept came around 9 years ago, after owners Richard and Nikki Cooper bought a dilapidated hotel and outbuilding/former stable in Bridport, Dorset. After a few years of renovation and tweaking the designs and menus, Stable Pizza has now grown throughout the South of England, using the same approach to each 'stable'. Their vision is to create a unique environment where customers can enjoy fine, locally sourced produce, accompanied by an abundance of real cider and trust me, they have really fulfilled their vision, and more.

As a country bumpkin myself, I love cider. Always my drink of choice at the pub. So, when I walked in and saw the array of brands along the bar, I was blown away. Luckily for me, I didn't have to choose just one, as there were plenty of tasters to go around. I think my favourite was 'Ham Hill', delicious. Initially, I thought I was one of the first there until I walked a bit further down, where the whole restaurant opened up. There were so many people, a live band and pizza for all. The atmosphere was awesome and all of the staff were so friendly and cheery. Good times.

After close analysis of the menu, believe me when I say that you won't find it hard to choose something that suits your taste buds. Their offering is huge. My personal favourite had to be 'The Aldgate Angler'. Smoked mackerel, smoked salmon spinach and mozzarella topping, with a fresh tomato sauce base. It was amazing. At the end of the night, I received the best goody bag containing a lovely 'say cheese' cheese board, a tea towel, coffee mug, a bottle of cider and much more. I honestly had such a nice evening at Stable Pizza. Thank you for inviting me.
